So if you’re interested in reading this you want to run an Elite Force H&K 417 AEG.
This AEG is OEM’ed by Vega Force Company so you know you’re getting some top notch externals and internals.
Here is a little diddy that we did for Elite Force to show off some of the highlights of the AEG.
A little bit of History
The Heckler & Koch HK417 is a battle rifle designed and manufactured in Germany by Heckler & Koch. It is a gas-operated, selective fire rifle with a rotating bolt and is essentially an enlarged HK416 assault rifle. Chambered for the full power 7.62x51mm NATO round, instead of a less powerful intermediate cartridge, the HK417 is intended for use as a designated marksman rifle, and in other roles where the greater penetrative power and range of the 7.62x51mm NATO round are required. It has been adopted for service by a number of armed forces, special forces, and police organizations. - Many thanks to the Wikipedia for the awesome history lesson.
Soooooooooo….. Lets get into the details.
The 417 is the bigger more badass brother of the 416 class of battle rifles. And with that it comes with specific sized replical 7.62x51mm magazines both in hi-capacity or mid-capacity. When you purchase one out of the box it comes with a 100 round Mid-cap magazine with fake bullets.
You can buy the High Capacity version that is a clear magazine:
Fun stuff right??!?!?! Well the thing is these 417 magazines are wider than your standard “M” AR-15 magazines so you’ll need some good pouches to keep them nice and secure.
Typically, you can run wider pouches such as m14 width but here are some of the nicer options.
Some of the nicer real steel gear manufacturers make 417 specific pouches. This is just done with a small google search, if you find any repro or any other pouches comment below!

If you’re not satisfied with the length of the 417 you can buy a seperate kit that bring it to the 417D status.

Personally, I really like the ELCAN look.
Elite Force Suggests their .28g 6mm bbs or the .32g Milsim MAX bb. And we do recommend a heavier weight bb to make sure you get the best performance from your 417.
We highly recommend you run this AEG till it dies and there is no more warranty. At the minimum start if you wanted to is to change the stock bucking to something better like a Prometheus Purple or even a full Hop-up, inner barrel switch to a tightbore. HOWEVER, the stock VFC inner barrel and hopup are quite nice for a stock AEG.
Once it breaks, then use high torque gears, silent piston head combo, etc.. etc..
This bad boy can handle a 11.1v 20c lipo. but we recommend using the absolute minimum needed to pull the spring in semi with a nice crisp trigger response. We’ve run it with a 9.6v NiMH with a bit less trigger response but it still is quite nice at that battery power.
We hope that you liked this overview, that showed you what you need basically to run an ELITE FORCE H&K 417 AEG. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed. Look for our AirSim media review about the Elite Force H&K 417 coming soon!
